Hiya kids, I am now a true g33k

I realize of course I will not be an übergeek, nor a true ninja/jedi/pirate/vulcan, until I convert completely to Linux or BSD with Command-Line only, but I like pretty pictures, okay? I need a GUI some times, like my blankie, when I was a kid.

I am dual-booting my personal computer to Windows XP and Ubuntu 6.10.

and so can you be too!

Here's my basic sysinfo:

  • AMD Barton Core Athlon 2500+
  • Biostar M7NCD Ultra
  • 1GB Matched PC2700 333Mhz DDR
  • NVidia GeForce MX5200

All I had to do was download, burn, install.

I went to Ubuntu.org and downloaded the newest release for x86 processors, put in the disk after making the preliminary check that my BIOS was set to boot from CD, then installed it and let it partition my disks automatically1; Voilà!, I was a huge dork.
